Reiki should never be substituted for medical treatment; however, I believe that the "whole" person needs to be treated. If you treat the body and only the physical symptoms, there is so much more of the individual that is not being treated. If there are blocks of energy in the systems of the body, these need to be cleared for healing to occur. We are designed to heal ourselves, but we first have to understand ourselves for that to occur fully.
The mind, body, and spirit in combination needs to be treated together, before the person can truly be healed. The person needs to take responsibility for their own healing on many levels besides just the physical level. Our bodies are a blueprint for all trauma, injury, and emotion that we have ever felt, and if these things are never looked at and understood, can cause "dis-ease".
Even though it is hard to look deep within ourselves for answers and embrace our good and bad points, truly understanding and embracing them is where our greatest energy lies......our true selves. Choosing to embark on finding these answers will be your greatest gift to yourself. Embrace the "Whole" you.
"Every human being is the author of his own health or disease."Buddha
Zanolxis...says further "that as you ought not to attempt to cure the eyes without the head, or the head without the body, so neither ought you to attempt to cure the body without the soul; and this" he said, "is the reason why the cure of many diseases is unknown to the physicians of Hellas, which ought to be studied also; for the part can never be well unless the whole is well."From Plato's Charmide, quoted by Brofman Foundation website: www.healer.ch
"The truth is that our finest moments are most likely to occur when we are feeling deeply uncomfortable, unhappy, or unfulfilled. For it is only in such moments, propelled by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts and start searching for different ways or truer answers."M. Scott Peck, psychiatrist quoted in Invisible Acts of Power, Caroline Myss
"It is only when we have the courage to face things exactly as they are, without any self-deception or illusion, that a light will develop out of events, by which the path to success may be recognized."I Ching, Hexagram 5, Hsu, Waiting(Nourishment)
"Go beyond the clamor of your intellect....most of us think that fulfilling the mind's desires will fill our emptiness. But only when we follow our deeper calling will we find lasting fullfillment."Debbie Ford, author of The Dark Side of the Light Chasers
"Once again, we consider whether this is all worthwhile, whether it's worth your time and energy to restore yourself to wholeness, to shift your thoughts from hopelessness to enlightenment. When you discover that what lies beneath the surface of your consciousness are simply unprocessed thoughts and feelings, your pain can be healed. When you allow all the part of yourself that you've repressed to come to the surface, you can exhale with relief. You can breathe easy again. When you peel off the mask that hides your vulnerability and your humanity, you'll come face to face with your true self."Debbie Ford, author of The Dark Side of the Light Chasers
"A person will forget what you said, and what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel."Maya Angelou
