Here are a few people that have experienced the gift of Reiki. I am always amazed at the way Reiki heals in whatever capacity the client needs. Reiki helps balance the mind, body, and spirit so that our bodies can heal themselves. A session of Reiki helps balance the chakra system so that all systems in the body can work properly. A client draws as much energy they need through the practitioner to promote healing to take place. It's such an exciting tool to learn as well as use.
My son was very sick one night with severe stomach nausea. He had no color in his face. I had just come home and immediately went to his side. I held my hands out from his stomach area for a few minutes. He started feeling better, so I asked him if it was ok for me to lay my hands on his lower back. As I continued to send Reiki to my son I noticed that his color came back into his face, and he said he didn't feel sick anymore. He said, "Mom the knot in my stomach went away". From that moment on he loved Reiki, and continues to ask for Reiki sessions frequently.
I volunteer at the Respite House, a loving place where patients go when they are in the end stages of life. One Thursday afternoon I noticed a woman who was very distraught from the stress of caring for her dying father. She was crying and very agitated. The nurse told her about the volunteers giving Free Reiki sessions and she decided to try it. She cried for the first part of the Reiki session, and then started to feel better. By the time the session was over, she was smiling and felt that she could continue to support her father emotionally. It was amazing for me to see the visible difference in her, in such a short time.
I helped a friend who was going through chemotherapy while fighting breast cancer. She was very sick after the first chemotherapy treatment she received. She lost 10 pounds the first week because she could not keep any food down. I asked her if she minded me sending her Distant Reiki the night before her treatments, and then again the day of her treatment. She said she would welcome anything at this point. The day of her next treatment her mother called to see how she was doing, and didn't get any answer. She started to panic wondering if she was so sick she could not answer the phone. When she finally did reach her daughter, she found out that she had been out shopping. My friend did not feel sick again during the next 4 chemotherapy treatments she received. It was such a total turn around from what she had experienced after the 1st treatment.
One day at the respite house we met a woman that was fighting the end stages of colon cancer. She was visibly tense after having a number of visitors that day. She was having a hard time relaxing. A few Reiki Volunteers gave her Reiki and she fell into a very peaceful sleep within the first few minutes. Myself and another volunteer gave her brother Reiki. We find that family members often are holding back a lot of emotions, as they try to support their family member. They also need support in this difficult time. This gentlemen had never had Reiki before but was curious to know what it was about. During his Reiki session he had a huge emotional release, and tears escaped his eyes. He sat up and was surprised. He seemed very grateful that he was able to release the emotions that he had been fighting. He thanked us for volunteering and said that what we did by supporting the families and patients was greatly appreciated.
Another patient at the Respite house that has touched my heart, is a woman that could not move at all. So often we take for granted being able to get out of bed, walk, talk, drive, etc. This woman had some sort of muscle disease that had affected her whole body. She was sitting in a chair with her head propped up, not able to do anything. She had a cup sitting in front of her mouth, in case she got thirsty.
As I gave her Reiki, I looked at pictures on the walls of her when she was vibrant and full of life. I stood there giving her Reiki thinking about how much she seemed to enjoy the life energy she was taking in. Her cheeks were rosy, and she was relaxed when the Reiki session was done. She smiled at us, as though to thank us for our time.
Reiki is nurturing, and to some people that means a few minutes of not being alone, as well as enjoying the healing touch of another.
